Meals on Wheels Rural Capital Area delivers more than a meal. We provide nutrition, wellness checks, connection, and peace of mind for seniors across rural Central Texas.

Serving seniors in Bastrop, Blanco, Caldwell, Fayette, Hays, and Lee counties.

Donate Meals

More Than A Meal

For many seniors, the friendly face at the door may be the only visitor they see all day.

At Meals on Wheels Rural Capital Area, we believe seniors deserve the dignity of aging safely in the homes and communities they love. Our program provides nutritious meals to older adults who may struggle to shop, cook, or leave home regularly. But the service goes far beyond food.

Every delivered meal provides:

Eligibility

For congregate meals - Persons must be 60 years of age or older, or the spouse (regardless of age) or an eligible client. Disabled persons under 60, who lives with an eligible client, or lives in within the housing authority we serve, may come to the site with the client and eat.

For home delivered meals - Persons must be 60 years of age or older and be home bound (unable to drive) and be unable to leave home without assistance and not have help in the home with cooking of noon meals. Disabled persons under 60 who are on Medicaid may be eligible to receive meals.

Cost of Meals

The cost of a meal is a voluntary donation of $2.50. If a person is unable to give the full contribution, they may give what they can afford and will not be denied a meal. All meals are cooked and prepared by TRIO Services in Austin, Texas. Hot food is transported in insulated food containers by company vans to the 20 sites

Due to decreased funding and lower than average donations, we currently have a waitlist for services. Please consider donating today to help provide a hot meal and a warm smile to a Rural Central Texas senior!

Tribute and Memorial Gifts

Establishing a memorial or tribute gift is a meaningful way to honor a person or to celebrate a special occasion, like a birthday or holiday. Your gift is a lasting testimonial that also contributes to the mission at Meals on Wheels Rural Capital Area. You can give a gift in honor of a loved one, in recognition of a milestone achievement, or in honor of someone who has passed away and has requested donations in lieu of flowers.

Donor-Advised Fund

A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is a philanthropic giving tool that allows you to grant funds to charities while providing an immediate tax benefit to you. It’s like a charitable investment account for the sole purpose of supporting causes you care about.

Establish your DAF by making an irrevocable, tax-deductible donation to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program, such as the Meals on Wheels Rural Capital Area. Our EIN Number/Tax-ID is 74-1548511.
