In Loving Memory of Petra Soto Mirelez
In Memory of Petra Soto Mirelez
April 8, 1929 – February 5, 2018
At almost 89 years old, Petra lived a full life. She will be missed deeply. She was
unconditional and selfless with her love. She reaped what she sowed, love.
That’s why she was loved by so many people. Her qualities included a heart of
gold; sincere listening; a strong sense of faith; gratitude; humility; and a love of
kids, all kids. She and her husband, Salomon were married 53 years before he
passed away in late 2000.
In 1950, Petra (born in San Marcos, Texas) and Salomon (born in Robstown,
Texas) settled in central Indiana following many years of field labor work
throughout the United States. They purchased their first farm in 1965 where they
grew tomatoes for 45 years. Petra operated a farmer’s market out of their barn,
while Salomon tended to the acres grown for Red Gold Foods.
Her memory will be cherished by her children, Maria (Mirelez) MacKinnon,
Solomon Mirelez, Jr., Fernando Mirelez, Diana (Mirelez) Patiño, and Mario
Mirelez; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-greatgrandchildren
